Rise: Pride

Let your spirit soar!

Two weeks prior to Transgender Day of Visibility (TDoV) 2021, an idea to create a print combining trans pride with automotive passion led to the development of Rise: Pride. In addition, a black and gold "Noir" version was created at the same time and together they celebrate TDoV 2021. The Pontiac Firebird Trans Am was chosen for this project due to its iconic status as a muscle car and its reference to the word "trans."

Both prints use limited colour palettes with the Pride version making use of blue, pink and white - the colours of the transgender flag. In this version the night has ended and the sun has risen - symbolising hope for the future. Details such as the "Pontiac" badge, "Trans Am" decal and "T/A - 6.6" decal were changed to "Phoenix", "Trans Pride" and "T/G/I - ∞" (Trans/Gender/Inclusion - Infinity) respectively to reflect a trans-positive message. The phoenix, in this version, represents a transgender or non-binary person being reborn and free to be themselves.
